Local Skiers Compete at State Meet
WESTMINSTER, Mass. -- Lenox's Oliver Kirby and Owen Tanner Wednesday each posted a top 10 finish in the slalom at the Alpine State Championships at Wachusett Mountain.
Kirby finished fourth in the discipline, the best finish by any Berkshire County skier at the event. Tanner placed ninth.
The best finishes among the county's girls at the state meet were turned in by the Millionaires' Mackenzie Valenzuela, who placed 13th in the GS and 17th in the slalom.
The team titles on Wednesday went to Medway in the girls race and St. John's Prep in the boys competition.
Charlotte Richmond placed sixth in the slalom and 21st in the GS to lead Medway.
Owen McLain finished second in the slalom, and Victor Barnas was the runner up in the GS for the St. John's boys.
