McCann Tech Baseball Falls in 12 Innings
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Henry Rutkowski singled to drive in the winning run in the bottom of the 12th Thursday as the St. Mary’s baseball team took a 3-2 win over McCann Tech.
The Hornets scored the game’s first run in the top of the fourth, when Jaydon Dimitropolis hit a line drive to left to score Hunter Lancto.
The Saints got that run back in the sixth, and it stayed a 1-1 game until the top of the 12th.
That is when Aidan Tremblay doubled with one out and scored two pitches later when Mason Rondeau doubled to left to give the Hornets the lead.
But Audrey Amaral was able to get the next two outs for St. Mary’s.
And he started the winning rally in the bottom of the inning with a single to center field.
Amaral worked six innings of relief, striking out four and allowing just two hits to earn the win.
McCann Tech used three pitchers. Nolan Booth, Dimitropolis and Rondeau combined to strike out 12.
The Hornets (5-6) host Lenox on Saturday.
