SHEFFIELD, Mass. – Austin Meacham struck out five and allowed one earned run Wednesday to lead the Monson baseball team to a 4-3 win over Mount Everett.

Matt Lowe went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Jacob Kreis doubled and scored a run in an eight-hit attack for the Eagles.

Heyden Cutlip and Michael Ullrich split time on the mound, striking out seven.

The Eagles got a run in the bottom of the seventh when Lowe scored on a ground ball from Sean Warren to make it a one-run game. But Meacham got the next hitter to strike out to end the game with a runner on third.

"Tough game today," Mount Everett coach Dan Lanoue said. "But I am proud of the guys for how they fought back and almost pulled off the comeback."

Mount Everett (8-9) goes to Westfield to play St. Mary’s on Friday.
