EASTHAMPTON, Mass. – Cameron Coon laid down a sacrifice bunt to break a 5-5 tie, and the Mount Everett baseball team went on to an 8-5 win over Easthampton on Wednesday.

Brodie Kinna led off the top of the fifth with a walk and moved up on a Brady Carpenter single. Trevor Leonard’s infield single then loaded the bases with nobody out for Coon.

Coon bunted back to the mound, bringing Kinna home with the winning run.

The Eagles then added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth when a pair of Easthampton errors on the same play allowed Darius Taliaferro and Kinna to score on a groundout by Leonard.

Taliaferro, Carpenter and Leonard each had a pair of hits in an eight-hit attack for the Eagles.

Coon, Johnny Ireland and Leonard split time on the mound, striking out 14 and allowing four earned runs.

Mount Everett (2-0) goes to Northampton on Friday.
