Rabuse Leads Wahconah Past South Hadley

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – James Rabuse struck out 11 and gave up no earned runs in five innings on the mound Tuesday to lead the Wahconah baseball team to a 5-2 win over South Hadley in Wahconah’s season opener.
 
Rabuse helped his cause by going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI at the plate.
 
Colby Robb also had a pair of hits, and Luke Ferguson went 1-for-2 in a nine-hit attack for Wahconah, which grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the third and went ahead, 5-1 in the top of the fifth.
 
Wahconah collected seven stolen bases in the win. Rabuse, Ferguson and Connor Kirchner each had a pair of steals.
 
Wahconah (1-0) is scheduled to go to Hampshire Regional on Friday.
