Wahconah Clinches League Title
DALTON, Mass. – Scott Hoffmann went 3-for-4 with a home run Friday to lead the Wahconah baseball team to a 14-8 win over Ware.
The win assured Wahconah at least a share of the Suburban West league title.
“Scott hit a huge first inning home run to set the tone for the game,” Wahconah first-year coach Collin Parrott said. “We looked really good at the plate today – a lot of quality at-bats.”
Luke Ferguson was 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, and Sam McLaughlin doubled and went 3-for-4 in a 15-hit attack for Wahconah.
Ferguson also earned the win on the mound, striking out two and allowing five earned runs in six innings of work. Jacob Welch provided an inning of scoreless relief to close out the win.
“I’m super happy with the fight this group has shown all year,” Parrott said. “They set the goal to win our league on Day One of our season, and they got to put a banner on the wall.
“I give a lot of credit to our captains. Luke [Ferguson], Aidan [Hagmaier] and James [Rabuse] have set an excellent example every single day. They are amazing captains, and I am so honored to be able to win this league title with them.”
Wahconah (13-3) hosts Frontier on Tuesday.
