Westfield Tech Baseball Holds Off Mount Greylock

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield Tech’s Deven Werbiskis went 6 and one-third innings on the mound and went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs at the plate to lead his team to an 8-6 win over Mount Greylock on Tuesday in the quarter-finals of the Western Massachusetts Class C Tournament.
 
Westfield Tech took a 7-1 lead with a four-run fourth inning and held on as the Mounties scored two in the fifth, one in the sixth and two in the seventh.
 
Tommy Art went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs to lead Mount Greylock, which got a 2-for-2 day at the plate from Cole Wetherell.
 
Jameson Bayliss struck out eight and allowed just one earned run (seven unearned) in four innings on the hill for the Mounties. Mason Canata and Jason Jaros each pitched an inning in relief.
 
Mount Greylock (7-12) waits to learn its final regular season opponent.
