Kristensen Leads Mount Greylock to Opening Day Win
EASTHAMPTON, Mass. – Eli Kristensen struck out 10 in five innings of work Monday to lead the Mount Greylock baseball team to an 8-1 win over Easthampton in the Mounties’ season opener.
Kristensen also helped his cause by going 2-for-3 with a couple of walks and scoring three runs in the win.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better start from him, five innings of one-hit ball with 10 Ks,“ Mount Greylock coach Rick Paris said. “We had a few walks, but he was around the plate all night. He did pitch a bit longer than I wanted, but we finally extended our lead in the sixth to give us breathing room.”
Emery Rotter went 2-for-4 with three runs batted in along with two innings of one-run relief. And Jesse Thompson doubled and drove in a run.
“We also had some great contributions from some of our newcomers,” Paris said. “Eighth-grader Owen KaoMoya behind the plate was stellar back there. With a couple of ninth-graders getting their first varsity starts and hits: Asher Barrale, Jaden Wells-Vidal.”
Mount Greylock (1-0) is at Northampton on Wednesday.
