Raifstanger Slam Highlights Spartan Semi-Final Win

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- Jayder Raifstanger hit a grand slam on Thursday to lift the Monument Mountain baseball team to a 12-5 win over Hampshire Regional in the semi-finals of the Western Massachusetts Class B tournament.
 
The third-seeded Spartans move on to face No. 1 Taconic on Wednesday at Westfield State University for the regional title.
 
Raifstanger's only hit of the game drove in four runs in a six-run fifth inning for Monument Mountain to answer Hampshire Regional's five-run top of the fifth that cut into a 6-0 Spartan lead.
 
Collin Parker and Jack Bissaillon combined to strike out nine on the mound. Parker got the win with 4-1/3 innings of work.
 
Shaun Frank and Owen Wade each went 2-for-3 with a double in a 12-hit Monument Mountain attack. Frank drove in three runs.
 
Monument Mountain (17-3) now gets a rematch with the Thunder, a 2-0 winner whent he teams met in Great Barrington on May 6. Taconic punched its ticket to the regional final on Thursday with a 5-0 win over Wahconah.
