Monument Mountain Edges Holds Off Wahconah to Take One-Run Win

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Cam Raifstanger went 3-for-4 with a double and a pair of RBIs Monday to lead the Monument Mountain baseball team to a 12-11 win over Wahconah.
 
The Spartans jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first inning and built that lead to 12-7 in the bottom of the sixth before Wahconah rallied for four in the top of the seventh.
 
Marco Buffoni, Jayder Raifstanger, Peter Free, Arthur Labrie and Braxton Crandell each singled and drove in a run in a nine-hit Spartans attack.
 
Owen Wade got the win on the mound, allowing three earned runs and striking out six in four innings of work.
 
Wahconah got a pair of doubles apiece from Ethan Orsini and Drew Wendling and an RBI triple from Pat McLaughlin in the sixth inning rally. Orsini finished with a game-high four RBIs.
 
Wahconah (0-2) hosts Ludlow on Wednesday.
 
Monument Mountain (2-0) hosts Mount Greylock on Friday.
