Pittsfield Edges Minnechaug

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Simon Mele and Brayden Gutzmer combined to allow just two earned runs on Monday as the Pittsfield baseball team beat Minnechaug, 4-3, on Buddy Pellerin Field at Clapp Park.
 
Mele started and went three innings before giving the ball to Gutzmer in the fourth.
 
Gutzmer struck out three, walked two and did not allow a run in four innings of relief.
 
Roshan Warriar and Morrie Fried led Pittsfield’s offense.
 
Warriar went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Fried hit a solo home run in the bottom of the third to make it a 4-1 game.
 
Pittsfield (2-1) goes to Northampton on Wednesday.
