WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Dakota Bolte stopped 12 shots in his first ever appearance in goal to backstop the McCann Tech boys lacrosse team to a 7-5 win over St. Mary’s.

Freshman Jason Delisle scored four goals, and Darian Tovani and Evan Knapp each scored a goal for the Hornets (1-1), but the story of the day was Bolte.

“There was one save on a 2-on-1 at the end of the third quarter with seconds left,” McCann Tech coach Paul Lange said. “Everyone just thought we were going to give up a goal because in lacrosse, that typically is a goal.

“When he made the save, it pumped everyone up. … Justin Meczywor said to me, ‘Coach, I’m pumped now. That was a huge save. Let’s go get the win.”

McCann Tech hosts Wahconah on Saturday.
