AUBURN, Mass. – Jenna Luhitsitt scored three goals, and Jordan Bolduc made 13 saves Saturday to lead the Auburn girls lacrosse team to a 10-8 win over Hoosac Valley in the preliminary round of the Division 3 State Tournament.

Emma Meczywor had a game-high four goals, and Jacinta Felix had a hat trick for the Hurricanes.

“We played two different offensive halves,” Hoosac Valley coach Molly West said. “We moved the ball with patience and composure in the first and rushed/forced too many passes in the second; we had turnovers and it was hard to gain momentum.

“I was impressed with the way we fought back at the end, pressuring every ball, to bring the game within two, but it wasn't enough, unfortunately. Kennedy Whitley had a great game and showed tremendous growth all season. Overall, I am incredibly proud of this group of young women and looking forward to seeing what we accomplish next year.”

Whitley finished with seven saves in the loss.

Ashlyn Lesure had four assists. Lauren Davis had a goal and an assist, and Reagan Shea set up a goal.

Hoosac Valley finishes the season with a record of 14-4.
