SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Kaitlyn Ondrick scored six goals Thursday to lead the Pope Francis girls lacrosse team to a 22-14 win over Hoosac Valley.

Ashlyn Lesure scored seven goals and set up three more for the Hurricanes.

Emma Meczywork scored four times, and Jacinta Felix had a hat trick in the loss.

“Highs and lows all game with a disappointing outcome,” Hoosac Valley coach Molly West said. “We came out down 2-0 and then went on a 6-0 run because we won draws and moved the ball within our offense.

“We played pretty even in the first half, but in the second half we did not dominate as we usually do on the circle and our defensive pressure and ability to push east/west hurt us, giving them open shots.”

Kennedy Whitely stopped five shots in the loss.

Hoosac Valley (3-1) hosts Chicopee on Wednesday.
