Meczywor, Hurricanes Rally for Comeback Win

CHESHIRE, Mass. – Emma Meczywor scored seven goals and set up three more Thursday to lead the Hoosac Valley girls lacrosse team to a 12-11, come-from-behind win over Amherst-Pelham.

 

“This was an amazing win. We were down for all of the game and powered back in the fourth quarter,” Hoosac Valley coach Molly West said. “To see us never give up, keep composure and focus on our goals was tremendous. Our captains were true leaders today: composure, hard work, focused and led with passion.

 

“The game came down to draws, ultimately, and we were spectacular in the second half. Our assistant coach, Bri Lancia, has worked diligently this season on draws and it paid off today. Extremely proud of this group.”

 

Jacinta Felix had a hat trick, and Ashlyn Lesure and Reagan Shea each scored a goal in the win.

 

Kennedy Whitley and Cameron Lovato split time in Hoosac Valley’s goal, combining to make nine stops.

 

The Hurricanes (10-2) host Chicopee Comprehensive on Tuesday.
