Mount Greylock Youth Steps Up in Win over Granby

GRANBY, Mass. – Sarah Polumbo scored six goals, and Mount Greylock’s younger players stepped up to post a 22-5 win over Granby in the regular season finale for both teams.
 
Ainsley Abel scored five goals, and Lexi Politis had four goals and four assists for the Mounties, who got six saves from Christy Rech.
 
“Our 7th, 8th and 9th graders really showed up today contributing on both sides of the ball,” Mount Greylock coach Jeff Stripp said. “Tanley Drake and Adele Lowe were responsible for limiting Granby’s best player, Ella Laliberte, to one goal.
 
“On the offensive side Stella Waynick, Meghan Lagerwall, Molly Cangelosi, Addison Abel
Reese Raymond each tallied points in the game.”
 
Waynick and Phoebe Hughes each scored a pair of goals.
 
Top-seeded Mount Greylock (16-2) is home on Wednesday evening against Lee in the semi-finals of the Western Massachusetts Class C tournament.
