PITTSFIELD Mass. – Lily Ferris scored five goals, and the Pittsfield girls lacrosse team overcame a four-goal deficit en route to an 8-6 win over Springfield Central on Monday.

Addie LaFerriere scored twice and assisted on a goal, and Katie Irwin had a goal and an assist.

LaNiyah Gregory stopped nine shots to earn the win in goal.

“They never quit,” Pittsfield coach Molly West said. “They played with integrity and were relentless throughout the second half. Coach [Jerome] Edgerton's defense has been stellar so far this year and they are playing with purpose and grit; our midfield won the majority of draws (Addie, Asia, Dana and Lily) which led to increased possession and we found the net with intentional shots when it mattered.

“LaNiyah made some amazing saves in the fourth quarter to keep us in the game as well.”

Pittsfield (2-1) hosts Lee on Tuesday.
