Pittsfield Girls Qualify for State Tournament

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Ella Kroboth scored five goals Thursday to lead the Pittsfield girls lacrosse team to a 7-2 win over Lee that guaranteed the Generals a spot in the Division 3 State Tournament.
 
Lily Ferris and Katie Irwin each had a goal and an assist, and Kennedy McKeever scored a goal as Pittsfield earned its fourth straight win.
 
LaNiyah Gregory stopped seven shots to earn the win in goal for Pittsfield, which improved to 7-2 with five regular season games remaining.
 
“Proud of the girls for working hard to meet the seven-goal win which gets us to .500/qualifying for the tournament,” Pittsfield coach Molly West said. “This group continues to work hard and meet goals.”
 
Ashley Sonsoni and Claire Davis each scored for Lee, which got 12 saves from Riley Bennetch.
 
The Wildcats (2-3) host Hoosac Valley on Saturday.
 
Pittsfield will look to extend its winning streak on Thursday when it hosts Smith Vocational.
