LEE, Mass. – Bri Lynch struck out 14, and Taryn Bannon drove in the winning run Thursday to lead the second-seeded Lee High softball team to a 4-2 win over Hoosac Valley in the semi-finals of the Western Massachusetts Class D Tournament.

Lynch scattered six hits and allowed no earned runs for second-seeded Lee (16-2), which advances to play at Westfield State on Wednesday afternoon in the regional final against the winner of Friday’s game between Turners Falls and Hopkins Academy.

Lee erased a 2-1 deficit and took the lead for good with a three-run sixth inning.

Lynch got things started with a leadoff single and took second on an error. Karalynn Hopkins then drove him home with a double to center field.

Hopkins took third base on the throw home and scored on Bannon’s single to give Lee a 3-2 lead.

Samantha Warner pinch ran for Bannon and eventually stole home to give Lee an insurance run.

Hannah Lord went 2-for-3 with a double for Hoosac Valley, which got an RBI from Alayna Shears.

Hoosac Valley (12-7) waits to hear who it will meet in the opening round of next week’s State Tournament.
