Drury Softball Falls in Pitchers Duel in State Tourney

MONTAGUE, Mass. – Madi Liimatainen outdueled Olivia Perry, and the Turners Falls softball team earned a 1-0 win over Drury in the Division 5 State Tournament Round of 16 on Wednesday.
 
Liimatainen struck out 14, walked one and allowed three hits in the complete game shutout. The Thunder senior has committed to play softball at Division II St. Michael's of Colchester, Vt., where she could be paired with former Drury star catcher Brooke Bishop, a .265 hitter in 37 games behind the plate for Knights this spring.
 
Perry gave up just an unearned run in the first inning and struck out 11 against five walks and two hits in her final outing with the Blue Devils.
 
Perry also went 2-for-3 at the plate.
 
Arianna Rivard had the other hit for Drury.
 
The Blue Devils finish the season with a record of 11-11.
 
Top-seeded Turners Falls (19-4) advances to host Narragansett Regional in the state quarter-finals.
