McCann Tech Opens with Road Win

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Shaylee Lawson went 4-for-4 with a double Thursday to lead the McCann Tech softball team to a 22-1, season-opening win over Chicopee Comprehensive.

 

Ryleigh Rathbun went 3-for-3, and Emma LeMire, Gabby Driscoll and Paige Rochelo each doubled in a 16-hit Hornet attack.

 

"With this being our first game of the season, I am proud of our team for coming out ready to play," first-year McCann Tech coach Aubrey Thurston said. "They hit very well today and worked together defensively to keep control of the game. I am excited to see where this season will take the program."

 

LeMIre earned the complete-game, five-inning win in the circle, striking out five and allowing no earned runs.

 

McCann Tech (1-0) goes to Drury on Tuesday.
