Hornets Pull Away Late in Road Win

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Paige Rochelo went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and the McCann Tech offense came alive late to earn an 18-3 win over Chicopee on Thursday.

 

The Hornets trailed, 2-0, going to the top of the fourth but scored three runs to take the lead. Then, after the Pacers knotted the score in the bottom of the fourth, McCann Tech added three in the fifth to retake the lead and exploded for 12 in the top of the sixth to end the game early via the mercy rule.

 

Ryleigh Rathbun doubled in an eight hit attack for McCann Tech, which worked 12 walks and took advantage of six Chicopee errors.

 

Gabby Driscoll and Emma LeMire split time in the circle, combining to strike out eight and allow two earned runs.

 

McCann Tech (8-3) hosts Hoosac Valley on Friday.
