Round three of Pittsfield’s city softball championship has been set.

The Pittsfield Generals (18-2) will host rival Taconic (12-7) on Thursday afternoon when the Western Massachusetts Division 1 playoffs get under way.

The Generals secured the No. 6 seed when the brackets were unveiled on Tuesday evening. That means a date with No. 11 Taconic, a team PHS beat by scores of 4-0 and 6-1 in their regular season meetings.

The winner of round 3 moves on to next Monday’s quarter-finals against third-seeded East Longmeadow (15-5), which received a bye through the first round.

Berkshire County’s lone entrant into the D2 playoffs will have to wait a full week to start its playoff run.

Wahconah (14-6) is seeded third in the five-team D2 field and will play No. 2 Southwick (16-4) in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, there are four county teams in the crowded 16-team Division 3 field.

Only top seed Turners Falls (18-2) gets a bye through the first round in that bracket. It awaits the winner of Thursday’s first-round game in North Adams where No. 8 McCann Tech (13-7) gets a home game against No. 9 Putnam (14-6).

Mount Everett (18-2) is the highest-seeded Berkshire County team in the D3 draw. The Eagles open the post-season on Friday at home against No. 15 Commerce (12-8).

No. 6 Mount Greylock (10-10) gets a home game on Thursday against No. 11 Mohawk Trail (14-6). Earlier this month, the Mounties won, 6-4, in Buckland.

The Hoosac Valley Hurricanes (9-10) make the field by virtue of their finish in the Berkshire South Division and earned the No. 12 seed. They travel Thursday to face No. 5 Athol (14-6).
