PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Franklin Tech softball team Wednesday scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to put away a 6-0 win over Taconic in the Division 5 State Tournament Round of 16.

Rylee Paronto doubled, and Chey Goddard and Audrina Maloney each had a hit for the Thunder.

"I'm proud of this team and what we accomplished this season," Taconic coach Jaclyn Candelet said. "Hats off to our four seniors: Rylee [Paronto], Julia [Pierce], Brenna [McNeice] and Sadiya [Auge]."

Taconic finishes the season with a record of 14-8.

Franklin Tech (19-4) moves on to a rematch against crosstown rival and third-seeded Turners Falls on Saturday night in the state quarter-finals. Earlier this spring, Franklin Tech took a 9-3 decision at Turners Falls.
