Hopedale Softball Ends Hoosac Valley's Run

HOPEDALE, Mass. – Emily Atwood struck out 11 and scattered four hits Sunday to lead the Hopedale softball team to a 2-1 win over Hoosac Valley in the Division 5 State Tournament.
 
Hoosac Valley’s Ella Bissaillon went 1-for-3 with an RBI, driving in Genevieve Lagess in the top of the fourth to give the Hurricanes a 1-0 lead.
 
Hopedale came back with two runs in the fifth to take the lead for good. Atwood (2-for-3 with a double) drove in a run in the winning rally.
 
Hoosac Valley’s Gracelyn Wright went the distance in the circle, striking out four and allowing just one earned run.
 
The Hurricanes finish the season with a record of 20-4.
