Hoosac Valley Advances to Saturday's Western Mass Final

ADAMS, Mass. – Genevieve Lagess went 2-for-2 with a pair of home runs to lead the Hoosac Valley softball team in a 15-3, five-inning win over Hopkins Academy in the semi-finals of the Western Massachusetts Class D Tournament.

 

Lagess walked in her other two plate appearances and drove in four runs for the unbeaten Hurricanes.

 

Gracelyn Wright (2-for-4) and Izzy Tart (2-for-3) each homered.

 

Rachael Wnuk went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs, and Gianna Witek doubled in a 14-hit attack for the Hurricanes.

 

Wright earned the win in the circle, striking out four and walking none.

 

After making quick work of the Golden Hawks, it will be a quick turnaround for Hoosac Valley (18-0), which heads to Westfield State on Saturday for a noon regional final against Monson.
