Hurricanes Blast Central in Opener

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Ella Bissaillon hit a pair of triples and drove in three runs Friday to lead the Hoosac Valley softball team to a 16-4 win over Springfield Central in the Hurricanes’ season-opener.
 
Hannah Lord went 3-for-5 with a double and drove in a pair of runs, and Izabela Tart doubled twice with two walks and two RBIs.
 
Collectively, Hoosac Valley pounded out 14 hits and put the game away with an eight-run seventh inning.
 
Gracelyn Wright earned the win in the circle, striking out 12, walking just three and allowing three hits and no earned runs over five innings.
 
Averie McGovern finished up, striking out four and walking two in two innings of scoreless relief.
 
Hoosac Valley (1-0) is scheduled to play Monument Mountain on Saturday afternoon in Great Barrington.
