BRAINTREE, Mass. – Jillian Ondrick struck out 15 on Thursday to lead the Archbishop Williams softball team to a 4-0 win over Wahconah in the Division 4 State Tournament Round of 16.

Alyssa Burke went 3-for-4 with a double to lead the Bishops’ offense.

Fifth-seeded Archbishop Williams (19-5) scored one run in the third when Burke doubled and scored and added two more an inning later.

“Today was a very good high school softball game,” Wahconah coach Dustin Belcher said. “Both pitchers did a great job in the circle and both teams played well defensively. Archbishop was able to get the timely hit and string a couple of hits together.”

Casey Wilson took the loss in the circle for Wahconah. She also had a leadoff single in the second inning.

Taylar Hickey had the only other hit for Wahconah, which finishes the season with a record of 10-12.

“I am very proud of the way my team competed today, and all season,” Belcher said. “No matter the challenges they were faced with, they showed up and competed everyday. We will miss our seniors. They have all had very good softball careers at Wahconah.”
