SOUTH DEERFIELD, Mass. – Raine Wonsey struck out 11 Thursday to outduel Wahconah’s Julia McComish and give the Frontier softball team a 3-1 win in the Western Massachusetts Class B Semi-Finals.

McComish racked up 12 strikeouts and did not allow an earned run in the loss.

“Both pitchers were excellent today in the circle,” Wahconah coach Dustin Belcher said. “It was a good high school softball matchup.

“At the end of the day, Frontier made more plays. All three runs we allowed were the result of errors. We will learn from today’s game and be ready for the state tournament.”

Sammie Kaley hit a solo home run in the top of the third to tie the game, but Frontier came back with two runs in the bottom of the inning and never looked back.

Kenadi Arnhold managed the only other hit for Wahconah (16-4), which awaits next week’s release of the Division 4 State Tournament bracket.
