PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The PIttsfield softball team Thursday turned a fifth-inning triple play to secure a 10-1 win over Westfield.

“Westfield loaded the bases with no outs and Westfield's Diana Daly hit a line drive up the middle and PHS shortstop Madison Tobin dove to make catch and threw to second to double up the runner,” Pittsfield coach Greg Marchbanks said. “Second basemen Natasha Shade then threw to third to get the runner there to complete a triple play.”

Tobin went 2-for-4 with an RBI at the plate, and Brianna Clary was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a pair of stolen bases.

Giulianna Pierce struck out five and scattered eight hits in the circle and helped her own cause with a 2-for-3 day at the plate.

Pittsfield (8-0) goes to Mount Greylock on Tuesday.
