LEE, Mass. -- Timothy Besaw scored 14 points Monday to lead the Lee boys basketball team to a 53-44 win over Mount Everett.

Besaw and Evan Heath (11 points) each had five in the first quarter, which saw the Wildcats take a 16-4 lead that they never relinquished.

"Good overall win for the team," Lee coach Eric Cardinal said. "Great first half energy sparked by Evan Heath and Cam Redstone with tenacious defensive efforts.

"The first half we played hard. The second half I think showed us we have lots still to focus on, but I was impressed by the emergence of the bench and the boost we were giving."

Mason Mihlek scored 12 points, including eight in the third quarter. Cam Redstone scored seven and did a good job distributing the ball in the win.

Jack Carpenter tied for game-high honors with 14 points, and Ben Monteleone scored 11 for the Eagles.

Mount Everett (3-6) hosts Mount Greylock on Wednesday.

Lee (1-2) travels to Hoosac Valley on Wednesday.
