Mount Everett Boys Earn Berth in Tourney Final

TURNERS FALLS, Mass. – Darius Taliaferro and Guthrie Davis each scored 19 points Thursday to lead the Mount Everett boys basketball team to a 61-47 win over Hopkins Academy in the first round of the Franklin Tech Holiday Tournament.

 

The Eagles (1-0) pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring Hopkins, 20-9, down the stretch  as Taliaferro hit three of his four 3-pointers and scored 14 points in the final eight minutes.

 

Brady Carpenter had a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 17 rebounds.

 

Mount Everett Friday will play host Franklin Tech, a 53-29 winner over St. Mary’s of Westfield, for the tournament title.
