Sherman Leads Taconic Boys Past Upper Cape Tech

PITTSFIELD, Mass. –Sam Sherman scored 18 points Friday to lead the Taconic boys basketball team to a 65-46 win over Upper Cape Tech in the first round of the Division 5 State Tournament.
 
Top-seeded Taconic (18-4) jumped out to a 24-6 lead in the first quarter and never looked back in advancing to next week’s Sweet 16, where it will host Salem Academy Charter, a 71-64 winner over Greenfield on Friday night.
 
Tayvon Sandifer scored 15 in a balanced attack for Taconic, which got 14 from Sean Harrigan and 10 from Maimoudou Bamba.
