Pope Francis Jumps Ahead Early, Hands Taconic Boys First Loss

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. --Cam Vedovelli scored 18 points Monday to lead the Pope Francis boys basketball team to a 54-49 win over Taconic.

 

Vedovelli scored eight of his points in the first quarter, going 4-for-4 from the foul line in the period to help the Cardinals pul out to a 15-9 lead.

 

Jamal Sistrunk and Tayvon Sandifer each scored 13 to lead the Thunder, which got eight points apiece from Christian Maturevich and Steve Patch.

 

Taconic (2-1) travels to Albany, N.Y. on Dec. 27 to play Guilderland at Colonie High School.
