This week's iBerkshires.com Athletes of the Week have helped their teams to a combined record of 13-1 this winter and some convincing wins to start the new year.

The Wahconah girls have played just once since we turned the page from 2023, but it was more of the same for Grace Wigington and her teammates.

Wahconah posted a 28-point road win at Hampshire on Thursday to improve to 6-0. In its last four, Wahconah's average margin of victory has been better than 33 points per game.

Wigington is averaging more than 19 points per game herself in four appearances this season, including 23 points to match her uniform number in the win at Hampshire.

This week starts with a home rematch against Granby, a 78-36 victim when Wahconah visited on Dec. 20, and a rematch in Cheshire against Hoosac Valley, which has won four straight following a 1-3 start that began with a loss in Dalton on opening night.

The Taconic boys have won five games in a row to improve to 7-1 this winter.

Three of those wins came in the last seven days, including a 22-point win at Suburban North foe West Springfield.

Maimoudou Bamba had a team-high 17 points in that win, two nights after he hung 26 points on Sci-Tech.

Babmba is averaging nearly 14 points per game this winter, second on the team to Tayvon Sandfer's 18 ppg.

After playing three times last week, Thunder plays just once in the next nine days. But it is a big one, a rematch at the Boys and Girls Club against Pittsfield for the City Championship and a 3-0 mark in their league.

The Generals will enter on a four-game winning streak, looking to avenge their season-opening loss to Taconic at the Club.
