Phillips, Thunder Edge Monument Mountain
GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Kalvin Phillips scored 23 points Friday to lead the Taconic boys basketball team to a 57-55 win over Monument Mountain.
Charlie Driscoll hit five 3-pointers and scored 17 points for the Thunder, who got nine points from Quincy King.
Phillips scored nine points and Driscoll added eight in the third quarter, when Taconic outscored the Spartans, 21-11, to erase a six-point half-time deficit.
“Monument Mountain got its offense back in gear and fought hard to regain a six-point lead again with four minutes to go, but Taconic finished the game on a 10-2 run, capped off by Kalvin Phillips' post up basket with 24 seconds to go,” Spartans coach Randy Koldys said. “Monument did not get a good look at a 3-pointer at the buzzer as our shot fell short.”
Dom Calautti scored 16 points to lead the Spartans, who got 14 from Finn Wheeler and 13 from Finn Mason.
The Spartans (9-7) host Wahconah next Friday.
Taconic (4-11) is at Sci-Tech on Monday.
