BELCHERTOWN, Mass. – Joey McGovern scored 24 points, and the Hoosac Valley boys basketball team clamped down defensively to earn a 75-55 win at Belchertown on Wednesday night.

Frank Field scored 23, and Qwanell Bradley added 10 for the Hurricanes, who got eight points apiece from Trevor Moynihan and Kadan Tatro.

Afterward, Hoosac Valley coach Bill Robinson said his team came out “flat” defensively in the first half and went to the locker room ahead by just four, 39-35.

Whatever they did at half-time, the Hurricanes were a different team on the defensive end in the final 16 minutes, holding the Orioles to just 20 points.

Hoosac Valley (7-1) hosts Baystate Academy on Friday.
