Calvert, Big Third Quarter Lift Wahconah Boys

DALTON, Mass. – Brody Calvert scored 26 points, and the Wahconah boys basketball team Friday used a big third quarter to take control of the game en route to a 65-52 win over Whitinsville Christian in the first round of the Division 4 State Tournament.
 
Calvert scored nine points, Jesse Chapman scored eight, and Pat McLaughlin had five in the third quarter, when Wahconah erased a 27-23 half-time deficit and took a 47-29 lead.
 
Chapman finished with 21 points, and McLaughlin added 13 in the win.
 
No. 4 Wahconah (15-6) will be home in next week’s Sweet 16 against West Bridgewater, a 79-51 road winner at Frontier on Friday night.
