GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Manny Brown scored 26 points, and the Monument Mountain boys basketball team clamped down defensively to earn a 73-36 win over Wahconah on Wednesday in the Western Massachusetts Class B semi-finals.

Khalil Carlson scored 22 points for the Spartans, who improved to 20-0 and earned a berth in Saturday’s regional final against either Pittsfield or Taconic, who meet on Thursday evening on Valentine Road.

Patrick McLaughlin scored 22 for Wahconah, which was held to fewer than 40 points for just the fourth time this season – and the second time by the Spartans.

“I was extremely proud of the defense we played from the second quarter on, holding Wahconah to just 23 points over the last 3 quarters,” Monument Mountain coach Randy Koldys said. “My guys have really bought in on defense and are playing hard.”

Sebastian Guete-Ramirez and Griffin McElroy scored nine and seven, respectively, in the win.
