LEE, Mass. – Jake Wasuk scored 19 points Thursday to lead four Wahconah boys in double figures as it downed Lee, 75-53, in the season opener for both teams.

Wasuk accounted for three of Wahconah’s seven 3-pointers in the win.

Jake DuCharme scored 16 points, and Sam McLaughlin and Cooper Calvert added 14 and 12, respectively, in the win.

Joey Abderhalden scored 14 points to lead Lee, which got nine points apiece from Mason Lucy and Mitchell Keenan and eight from Nick Mejia.

“It was a physical and hard fought game from the start,” Lee coach Dan Korte said. “The Wahconah team is strong, experienced, and well-coached. I'm proud of the way our kids battled until the end. There was no quit, and I think we can take a lot of positives away from tonight's game that we can build on.”

The Wildcats (0-1) are at Veritas Prep Charter on Monday.

Wahconah (1-0) goes to UMass Amherst on Saturday to play Frontier in the PIoneer Valley Tip-Off Classic.
