Carlson Scores 28 in Sweet 16 Blowout for Spartans

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Khalil Carlson scored 28 points Tuesday to lead the Monument Mountain boys basketball team to a 100-47 win over Nantucket in the second round of the Division 4 State Tournament.
 
The third-seeded Spartans (22-1) scored 100 points for the second time in five games and advanced to Friday’s State Quarter-Final against Burke, a 92-65 winner over Joseph Case on Monday night.
 
Carlson scored 14 points in the first quarter as Monument Mountain jumped out to a 35-5 lead.
 
The Spartans were up, 67-12, at half-time after Sebastian Guete-Ramirez scored 10 points on his way to a 17-point night.
 
Manny Brown scored 20 for Monument Mountain – 15 on five of the team’s 12 3-pointers.
 
Isaiah Keefner scored 13, and 11 different Spartans made a mark in the scorebook.
