SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Finn Mason scored 14 points Saturday to lead the Monument Mountain boys basketball team to a 45-40 win over Tuckahoe, N.Y., in the Hoophall Invitational at Springfield Commerce.

“Our defense was pretty good today to hold them to 40 points,” Monument Mountain coach Randy Koldys said. “It was a rock fight and had five more rocks than they did. I was really proud of our guys’ toughness, both mentally and physically, to pull this one out.”

Mason scored seven points in the second quarter, when the Spartans outscored Tuckahoe, 12-6, to take a 26-18 lead into the locker room.

Dom Calautti scored 12. Brodi Cohen added six, including a big 3-pointer in the fourth quarter.

Monument Mountain (5-5) goes back to Commerce on Sunday for an 11:45 a.m. bracket title game against Berne-Knox-Westerlo, which won a New York State Championship last winter and returns all five starters.
