Borawski, Kline Honored as Athletes of the Week
This week's iBerkshires.com/Bedard Bros. Athletes of the Week put up big performances at last week's sectional championships.
No one could catch Monument Mountain's Keaghan Kline in the regular season.
The Lenox Memorial student-athlete on the Spartans' cooperative team was the Most Outstanding Swimmer in the Berkshire County League.
And in the post-season, Kline took home multiple medals from the Central/Western Massachusetts Championships at Springfield College.
As an individual, Kline finished third in the 100-yard butterfly and fifth in the 50 freestyle.
She also anchored two Spartan relays at the sectional, helping Monument Mountain finish fourth in the 200 freestyle relay and seventh in the 400 free.
Hoosac Valley student Jacob Borawski, a senior on the Mount Greylock cooperative wrestling team, was one of six Berkshire County wrestlers to win his weight class at the Division 3 Western Mass Championships on Saturday at Taconic High.
After getting a bye through to the quarter-finals, Borawski pinned two opponents in the first period to reach the final, where he earned a pin midway through the third period against Monument Mountain's Isaac Hartshorn to claim the gold.
It was Borawski's third title at 175 pounds this winter, adding to wins at the Mountie Invitational, Kevin Harrington Invitational at Taconic and the Knightawk Classic. He also had a runner-up finish at the Berkshire Holiday Invitational to help the Mounties take home the team title.
This week, Borawski will be part of a Berkshire County contingent heading east to the D3 State Championships in Gloucester.
The iBerkshires.com Athlete of the Week is sponsored by Bedard Bros.
