DALTON, Mass. -- The Pittsfield Unified basketball team Friday jumped out to an 8-0 lead and held off a Wahconah comeback down the stretch to take a 31-26 win.

Charlotte Brooks scored 10 points, and Toby Moore added six to lead the Generals.

Wahconah, which outscored PHS, 8-2, down the stretch, got six points apiece from Grayson LeSage and Elayna Dowd to lead the way.

Moore scored twice in Pittsfield's opening run, which was snapped when Jaxxon Hand hit from the elbow for Wahconah to make it 8-2.

Wahconah got within four, but Parker Wilkenson and Brooks each scored to re-establish the eight-point margin.

At the end of the half, Ethan Smith (five points) knocked down a 3-pointer to give Pittsfield its biggest lead, at the time, 19-10, at half-time.

The Generals then started the second half with Smith bucket in transition and a basket by Brooks to go up, 23-10.

Hand put back rebound, and LeSage scored from the elbow for Wahconah, starting a 16-8 run to end the game for the hosts.

Wahconah scored six in a row -- two buckets from LeSage and one from Elizabeth Wesley -- to pull within five at 29-24 in the closing minutes.

But Brooks again came up big for the Generals, scoring to stop that run and give her team a seven-point margin with a minute left.

Wahconah goes to Mount Greylock on Tuesday while Pittsfield hosts Hoosac Valley on Wednesday.
