One of this week's iBerkshires.com/Southwestern Vermont Health Care Athletes of the Week helped their team end 2021 on a roll. The other got 2022 going in the right direction.

No Berkshire County girls basketball team is hotter than Wahconah, and Grace Wigington is leading the way.

Wigington closed the December portion of the schedule with five 3-pointers in a 23-point night as Wahconah won its sixth straight, 53-30, over West Springfield.

Since an opening night 57-52 loss at Hoosac Valley, Wahconah has allowed more than 30 points in a game just once. Meanwhile, its offense has gotten 17.5 points per game from Wigington.

Wahconah faces another challenge on Monday to start the new year when it hosts Taconic.

Zackary Lillie and the Drury hockey team got a jump on the rest of the county on Saturday when it won a New Year's Day matinee against Southwick.

Lillie registered the season's first hat trick for the Blue Devils in a 5-2 triumph.

That gave him four goals in two games on the young season.

Drury looks to go over the .500 mark on Saturday evening when it hosts Mount Everett.

The iBerkshires.com Athlete of the Week is sponsored by Southwestern Vermont Health Care.
