SOUTH DEERFIELD, Mass. – Harper Modestow scored 13 points Monday to lead the Frontier girls basketball team to a 43-26 win over Drury.

The Blue Devils ended their regular season on a down note but showed some encouraging signs, especially on the defensive end.

“I was disappointed after the South Hadley game because I didn’t think we competed the way we needed to, regardless of the score,” Drury coach Ian Downey said. “So it was important to see how we would respond against a similar opponent, and the girls didn’t disappoint me.

“Frontier averages like 58 points per game, and this is the second time we’ve held them to 43. Two of their three lowest scoring games this season were against us. I think that’s important to keep in mind, even if the final result wasn’t what we wanted. In the end, we just didn’t make enough shots to win. I thought we generated some good looks, and sometimes they don’t fall. That’s basketball.”

Drury got eight points from Ashlyn Hayden and six from Ella Bond.

The Blue Devils (13-5) learn Tuesday who they will host in the quarter-finals of the Western Massachusetts Class C Tournament.
