McCann Tech's Defense Smothers Westfield Tech
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Madison Rougeau scored 11 points, and the McCann Tech girls basketball team played dominant defense in a 34-4 win over Westfield Tech on Thursday night.
Faith Brazeau scored nine, and the Hornets got their offense in gear in the second half after taking a 9-1 lead into half-time.
“A slow build up offensively tonight,” McCann Tech coach Justin Kratz said. “We couldn't buy a basket in the first half, but we were able to withstand the cold shooting by playing tough defense. We got a little more patient and disciplined offensively in the second half and the shots started to drop leading to a 16-point fourth quarter to pull away.
“We're figuring out different ways to stay in games and find wins so those are all good learning experiences for the girls.”
McCann Tech (9-1) goes to Springfield Commerce on Monday.
