NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Faith Brazeau and Aiden Champney each scored 10 points, and the McCann Tech girls basketball team Friday overcame a slow start to earn a 40-23 win over Pathfinder RVT on Senior Night for the Hornets.

Madison Rougeau scored seven points, and the Hornets held an opponent in the 20s or below for the 12th time this winter.

“We came out a little nervous in front of a big crowd on Senior Night and went down 8-0 after the first but stormed back with a 16-0 second quarter of our own,” McCann Tech coach Justin Kratz said. “We had some foul trouble at points with Aiden [Champney], Madison [Rougeau] and Faith [Brazeau], but other girls stepped up big and held down the fort defensively and kept the pace where we needed it.

“We knew our speed was going to be critical against their size. They have some very tall girls.  Every girl on the floor bought into the pace and speed that we were trying to play at and it made the difference as we extended the lead with a 24-15 second half. I really can't say enough about the seniors this year in terms of the commitment they have shown to improving as players, growing as young women, and helping to build a program.”

McCann Tech (14-2) finishes the regular season on Monday at Springfield Commerce.
