SPRNGFIELD, Mass. -- Emma Goewey scored 16 points Wednesday to lead the Mount Everett girls basketball team to a 47-40 win over Renaissance.

Emily Steuernagle scord 14 for the Eagles, who who won for the fourth time in five games.

"I told my girls I was proud of them for battling the entire night and finishing the game they sure like to make it close, and during our talk at the end I told them I think they're trying to give me a heart attack with how we play at times," Mount Everett coach Joshua King said.

"We're getting a lot of positive play from our bench and starters which is great to see towards the end of the season and this was a good way to end our regular season prior to the Western Mass tournament and state."

C'Niyah Hines scored 19 to lead Renaissance.

King said he hopes the Eagles (7-11) have done enough recently and will be successful enough next week to earn a berth in the state championships. On Saturday, Mount Everett learns who its next opponent will be.
