Walker's Double-Double Leads Taconic Past Mount Greylock

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Jaelynn Walker scored 23 points and pulled down 19 rebounds Wednesday to lead the Taconic girls basketball team to a 51-44 win over Mount Greylock.
 
Walker scored eight points in the second quarter, when the Thunder outscored the Mounties, 16-7, to take a 23-16 lead into the locker room.
 
Jalisa Jesup just missed a double-double with 11 points and nine boards for Taconic, which got key contributions from its younger players.
 
“The two starting freshmen in the lineup [Eva O’Neil and Kiana Josephs] added 10 points and six rebounds, combined,” Taconic coach Jason Conuel said. “The freshmen are starting to get comfortable at the varsity level.”
 
Mia Filiault and Madi Powell each scored 14 points to lead Mount Greylock, which got seven from Tanley Drake.
 
The Mounties (2-5) host Pittsfield on Friday.
 
Taconic (2-3) is off until next Thursday, when it travels to Amherst.
